The international travelling exhibition it’s a small world has now landed in Shanghai and opens on 7 June.

it's a small world premiered at the Danish Design Centre during the Copenhagen Design Week 2009. Now the exhibition visits the Nordic Lighthouse in connection with World Expo 2010 until 10 July. There is an official exhibition opening in June, where Denmark will be represented by HRH Crown Prince Frederik and the Danish Minister of Economic and Business Affairs Brian Mikkelsen, among others.
The exhibition was developed by the Danish Design Centre, Danish Crafts and the Danish Architecture Centre at the initiative of the Danish Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs and the Danish Ministry of Culture.
How will future designers be working, and how do Danish design, architecture and craft address global issues concerning sustainability, new technologies and consumption? These questions are addressed in it's a small world, and thus the themes of the exhibition complement EXPO 2010, which highlights urban development under the slogan "Better City, Better Life". The pressure on our cities is growing, and that results in major economic, social and environmental challenges.
Through new works and design processes the exhibition presents examples of New Craftsmanship and non-standardised praxis. The classic design tools have been replaced by processual competences and a rediscovery of the techniques and traditions of craftsmanship in a contemporary context.
The craft section of it's a small world is represented by Mathias Bengtsson, Louise Campbell, Steen Ipsen, Ole Jensen, Astrid Krogh, Cecilie Manz, Claus Mølgaard and Søren Ulrik Petersen.
The exhibition is curated by:
