The spectacular lamp 'Wet Bell' attracted a good deal of attention before, during and after MINDCRAFT09 in Milan in 2009. The attention has now led to a manufacturing agreement with the distinguished Italian lamp manufacturer Nemo Cassina, which is part of the design giant Poltrona Frau Group. In addition to Nemo Cassina, several other esteemed design firms belong under the Poltrona Frau Group umbrella, among them Cappellini and Cassina.
In the future, Nemo Cassina will be manufacturing and marketing 'Wet Bell' internationally alongside lamps created by leading designers and architects such as Norman Foster, Carlo Forcolini, Ilaria Marelli, Ikaru Mori and Karim Rashid.
'Wet Bell' is another term for a diving bell, and the lamp derives its name from its characteristic shape and unique suspension design. This unconventional pendant lamp, which is made of steel and aluminum, has no visible suspension, and the cord comes in from the bottom. Salto & Sigsgaard describe the resulting design as a lamp that provides good lighting, and which is true to its LED light source.
