This week ‘FOLD-UNFOLD' was awarded by The Danish Arts Foundation's Committee for Crafts and Design. The committee consists of designer Louise Campbell (Chair), designer Bess Kristoffersen and design researcher Thomas Dickson. Each year the committee awards a number of contemporary pieces of high artistic quality and originality.

‘FOLD-UNFOLD' is a tablecloth where the creases play with the pattern in the form of dye that appears to be flowing in the creases. The tablecloth is made of cotton with a digital print and a reactive dye that has subsequently been ironed into distinct creases.

Margrethe Odgaard graduated from The Danish Design School, textile studies, in 2005. Since her graduation Margrethe has collaborated with Danish Crafts on several occasions. In addition to ‘FOLD-UNFOLD' in CC13, Margrethe Odgaard's cushions ‘Mimi & Moto' were included in CC12 and CC+ for EXPO.

Odgaard works with reactive printing techniques on linen and cotton, and her works are based on experiments with a single overarching idea that intrigues her, and which she wants to explore in depth; this may be a technique that she wants to test or a sensation that she wants to convey.
