Danish Crafts’ main objective is to promote and heighten the visibility of Danish Crafts while increasing sales at home and abroad. At Danish Crafts we also work to improve knowledge of Danish craft in Denmark and abroad while increasing growth and professionalization within this field.
Danish Crafts' main task is to provide information about Danish craft both in Denmark and abroad. We profile high-quality craft and focus our efforts at several levels in order to promote the position of the field of craft and design. Thus Danish Crafts' works to strengthen visibility, demand and sales for Danish craft.
Danish Crafts arranges censored exhibitions curated by independent experts. These exhibitions represent Danish craft and design of the highest quality executed by professionals. The objective is to heighten visibility and understanding of Danish craft and design while promoting a high level of quality.
The exhibitions are featured both in Denmark and abroad and target the general public as well as professionals, specialists and opinion-formers within the field of craft and design.
We publish a Guide to Shops and Galleries and FOKUS magazine.
The guide features information about shops and galleries selling Danish craft and is aimed at tourists and other interested parties.
FOKUS magazine highlights the particular qualities inherent in crafts as a working method and as a resource in relation to the design scene as a whole and as a significant part of our cultural identity. FOKUS targets opinion-formers and special-interest groups.
Our website is an important communication tool. This is where we provide up-to-date information, news, articles etc. We also profile over 350 craft artists and their products. Furthermore the website functions as a communication platform for the Crafts Collection.
Danish Crafts puts craft on the agenda in both the Danish and the international press through specifically targeted press contact. We have built up a widespread network of contacts with whom we cooperate to obtain relevant coverage. Besides ensuring press coverage of Danish Crafts' own activities we also occasionally undertake press contact on behalf of craft artists wishing to promote a particular story or a new exciting product; this includes projects that have received funding from Danish Crafts and takes place if we have resources available.
Danish Crafts works strategically to strengthen marketing and sales of Danish craft both in Denmark and abroad. We actively market Danish craft while supporting the professionalization of Danish craft- and design companies' own marketing activities.
We market our own collection, the Crafts Collection, featuring quality lifestyle products in co-operation with Danish craft artists. The collection is marketed at international trade fairs targeting leading international design shops in cities like New York, London, Tokyo, Paris, Milan and Berlin.
Danish Crafts is the official Danish information centre for Danish craft. We gather and distribute information while functioning as a knowledge centre and a link between various professional organizations both in Denmark and abroad.
