The main theme of this exhibition was questions - Derfor means “That’s why”. Make no mistake, the underlying reason is not doubt but curiosity. This is the inexhaustible founding element of quality craft.

Crafts are avant-garde per definition. They are the source of the inspiration that affects ordinary industrial design in a broader sense. Without this growth layer, without these figures at the front-line, daring to go new ways, design will degenerate into pure function and engineering.
That's why!
In today's knowledge society where the world is rapidly changing from a production economy to one based on knowledge and know-how knowledge becomes a significant resource. Crafts represent knowledge and the demonstration of material possibilities.
That's why!
‘Danish Design' initially carries positive associations internationally, based on great masters of the past like Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner, Finn Juhl, Poul Kjærholm, Børge Mogensen et al. At the same time it's a cliché locking the perception of Danish craft in the past. Hence Danish Crafts has a distinct interest in supporting a younger generation of craft artists, looking forwards, not backwards.
That's why!
Crafts represent the unique, aesthetic and emotional; personal experience and great stories - these parameters are eliciting increasing demand from modern consumers. As crafts are marketed abroad they carry an image of Denmark with them. The qualities represented by Danish craft contribute to a positive outward image of Denmark. This benefits the entire Danish commercial sector.
That's why!
Danish craft represent quality, skilled workmanship and high artistic standards - one of our finest cultural expressions. Crafts are one of the human race's oldest forms of expression when it comes to cultural identity.
That's why!
